Golden Grams

I've been avoiding my blog for awhile now. Partly out of being really busy but mostly because I feel compelled to post about a certain topic that I don't really want to write about. I feel however that this post is something I need to do.....a way to say goodbye perhaps. That topic is my Grandma Marie. She passed away two weeks ago tomorrow. Jason, Aden and I returned home on Oct 14 from our trip to BC and roughly half an hour after getting home my mom called to let me know that my Grandma had passed away that morning. She fell asleep in her chair Monday night and just didn't wake up the next morning. We are so grateful for how she went. It was very peaceful and just what we would have wanted for her but it certainly came as a shock for the rest of us. The night before she passed away it was Thanksgiving and she ate a huge meal and played Bowling on my cousin's Nintendo Wii. Go figure! I love my Grandma very much. It still doesn't feel entirely real that she's gone. Being up here in Calgary it's easy to feel as if she's just down in Lethbridge hanging out in her apartment as usual. We had a memorial service this past Saturday for her at my house. It was great. It was like a big party and not sad at all, just what she would have wanted. She is a wonderful, generous, loving person who I will miss very much. She is Calgary to me, she is Christmas, she is rummy, she is solitar, she is brown stuff (aka cinnamon spread), she is hidden chocolate bars, she is rolls of loonies, she is many memories to me....too many to write all at once and far too many to remember all at once. I am so grateful that she was part of my life for such a long time and will continue to be in my memories. Happy Birthday Grandma! (She would have turned 89 today). I love you!

Happy birthday Grams!!
Sorry to hear of your loss, we lost a Grandma this year too. Sounds like you have many pleasant memories of her. In them she will live on as you tell you children about her
