RetroSketch Card Challenge....

As most of you know I make cards, digital cards that I sell in my Etsy shop, craftedbylindy. Well I actually started out making cards with pretty paper and all the fun embellishments. When I started my Etsy shop that all went out the window though. All the pretty papers and supplies got packed up and I haven't done much with them since. It's been about 3 years now and I miss it. Recently my friend and neighbour Kasia of The Nature of Crafty Things has introduced me to something I knew nothing about, Card Challenges (I'm sure that's not the technical term, perhaps Kasia can correct me). Challenges about colour, layout, stamps, holidays, you name it! It's really been making me want to dig out all of those supplies that had been forgotten.

Kasia and some other wonderful ladies recently started a RetroSketches Challenge. Each week a past layout will be highlighted and the Challenge is to make a card using that layout. I admit fully that scrapbooking has never come naturally to me. I get stumped on layout and colour co-coordinating mostly so when I saw this Challenge it seemed right up my alley. The layout is already decided for me, yay! So I put together a card over the weekend and you can see it above. Now I'm not sure how much I'll be able to participate but I'm going to keep the supplies close at hand with hopes that I'll become a regular participant. Cross your fingers for me.

Now I couldn't totally give up the digital side of making cards so I merged the two to create this card. I found some light grey paper and I printed out "Happy Birthday To EWE!" on it. I also printed out my little sheep fellow onto some textured white card stock. I'm in love with grey and yellow right now and since the sheep is grey I dug out some yellow patterned paper for the background. I then took some grey and yellow Washi Tape I recently purchased from PrettyTape on Etsy and taped it onto some white card stock. I then cute it slightly thinner and adhered it to the card. I wanted to use pop dots to make the sheep come off of the card but I couldn't for the life of me find my stash so it just lays flat.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. If you want to participate in the RetroSketches Challenge you can find out more info on their blog. You can find more Card Challenges on Kasia's blog, The Nature of Crafty Things

Happy Monday everyone!

Thanks so much for all the comments! I'm so glad I could participate and already can't wait for the next one. I may be addicted now! : )

Kasia - you should! I want to get more colours! Washi Tape may become a problem for me, lol!

Jo - I have a Canon printer. I really like it but not as much as my last Canon. Still I've always been pretty happy with them.
