Reno's 2009

Yeash it took a long time to upload all these pics. I sure hope this works. WARNING - this is a photo heavy post with lots of before and afters.

The project started when we decided to convert our storage room in the basement into a guest room. This is Jason scraping the popcorn ceiling off.
This is what was in the storage room. It's now in the open area of our basement waiting for me to go through and get rid of most of it. Wish me luck!
Here's a picture of the doorway in the storage room (now bedroom). The whole room was drywalled except for the area by the door.
Just another angle.
This is the after. Drywall, paint and some carpet. Ooooooo......
This is a shot of our new mirror in the bathroom. We had a much smaller round one over the sink. It sucked.
Before we started on the bedroom we decided (with much convincing by my mother) to put a pocket door in between the new bedroom and the bathroom. This is the transformation from the bathroom side. No hole.....
.....now a hole....
.....and a door.....
....and paint and carpet.
And now the transformation from the bedroom side.
Drywall.
Paint and Carpet.
Once the bedroom was done we moved upstairs. The week before Easter my family came up to help us paint the kitchen, nook and hallway. Here's a shot of the nook. Check out the wicked wallpaper. (Now would be a good time to mention that we bought the house with this grey/green colour on the walls. We hated it but managed to live with it for 5 and a half years. You just get used to it after awhile.)
Wallpaper gone, patching begins.
Primer.....
And now Buttermilk.
This is the hall....now a dark grey/green.....
...to Buttermilk with white doors.
Kitchen.....more grey/green to.....
....well this is primer. I don't have a buttermilk shot but yes, more buttermilk.
Behind the fridge.....before.....
....primer......
.....after.
We got a new dining room light in the process. We lived with a hole for about 4 months. Before.....
....after.
Then we had a break for Easter and for me to have a cold. Then the week after Easter my family (this time including my brother) came up again and helped us paint the living room and dining room. These two rooms went from grey/green to Lemon Grass.
Before....
....after. (doesn't look like much of a change but believe me it is!!! The new paint colour doesn't transfer well through the camera.)
Before.......
.....after.
Before.....
....after.
Before.....
......after. Not that the stair well is still grey/green. This will match the rest of the dining room eventually, once we get a ladder that we can use on stairs.
We're still missing curtains and some artwork for the walls but the colour change has made a huge difference. It's so much brighter it's amazing and our house feels so much more modern. What a lot of work though. I'm exhausted, my whole family is exhausted. Thank goodness they came to help or I'd be at this for another two months!
I hope you enjoyed watching my reno's take place. You're now free to go. ; )

Wow you guys did a lot!

I love the pocket door idea - doorway to small but need privacy? Pocket door is the answer!

What an incredible amount of work you guys have accomplished Lindy! Well done

We have an old house (1940) that we are doing up - the floors are next - big job, not looking forward to all the mess!
