Cupcake Garland DIY

 Well here it is, the Cupcake Liner Pom Pom Garland DIY I promised you (the name needs some work). This project was very fun to make and has endless creative possibilities because of all the cool cupcake liners you can get now. I got the idea from this post on You Are My Fave.

I mean come on, right. Doesn't get much cuter than this!

Supplies you'll need:
* Cupcake liners (10 per pom pom)
* Glue stick
* Phone books or something heavy with a flat bottom
* Scotch Tape
* String or ribbon, etc.

Step 1: Get yourself some of these bad boys! Aren't they fun? I got mine from HeyYoYo and SweetEstelle on Etsy as well as a local grocery store.

Top to Bottom, Left to Right

Step 2: separate out 10 liners and fold them in half with the right sides together.
Step 3: Once you've folded all of your liners take your glue stick and glue them together, one on top of the other. I did mine in groups of 5 as I found it a bit easier to glue two groups of 5 to one another (to make 10) than to glue all 10 together at once. It gets slippery! : )
Step 4: Once they're glued put them under some phone books for a few minutes till the glue sets. This will also make the liners flatter.
Step 5: Once they're set glue your groups of 5 together to make your final pom pom's of 10 and put them back under the phone books to set.

Once they're set they'll look like this. Pretty cute already huh? I made some of these with mini cupcake liners and used them as place card holders.

 Here they are all in a row. I think I made about 30 of them. Only took a couple of hours.

Step 6: once the day of the party arrives and you're ready to set your decorations up, hang your string or ribbon where you want it.
Step 7: with the pom pom closed put two or three small pieces of looped scotch tape on one of the flat sides of the pom pom. Put your scotch tape as close to the centre (or straight side) as possible so your string stays in the centre of the pom pom.
Step 8: over the string, connect your two flat sides together securing with the tape. Then move your pom pom around so the flap you've taped together is on the bottom (not an easy task I found out) and you're done!
Step 9: Keep going till you have all of your pom poms hung and then just slide them along the string to get the placement right! So easy and so cute!

As mentioned I used these for place card holders, you could also punch small holes in two of the flaps (the ones directly across from one another), run the string through the holes and hang the pom poms vertically rather than horizontally. Or take a skewer with some glue on it and place it in the centre of the pom pom, once the glue has set you've got a pom pom on a stick! You could put them in vases or in the cake as a topper. There are so many fun creative ways to use these! Have fun!

Superb blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers? I'm planning to start my own website soon but I'm a little lost on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I'm completely confused .. Any tips? Many thanks!
