Hoot Hoot

Well I jumped on the Owl bandwagon this week. It seems that these little guys are everywhere right now so I started to play around and I admit that once the right design came together I too fell in love. My first attempt at Owl making produced a penguin. Following attempts created many very deformed looking birdies and one Owl that looked like he hadn't slept in days. Finally though these little cuties were born. They will be showing up in my Etsy shop in numerous forms. I just posted greeting cards and note cards if you'd like to take a peek. More to come next week.

A Little Bit of Aden Love

Well I haven't posted pics of the boy in a while the main reason being that I didn't have any decent ones. Lately as soon as he sees the camera he does one of two things, comes running at me wanting to see the pictures on the back of the camera or he immediately looks down and won't look at me no matter how many times I say please or how many strange noises I make. Finally though I have a few good ones to share so here he is in all his splendor!

This is his "ooooohhhhh" face. Wicked!
Check out that hair. Every morning I'm full of anticipation to see what kind of hair my boy will wake up with. This one is pretty awesome!
Aw the new game....completely empty the washcloth/dish towel drawer and spread contents as far and wide as possible and of course toss them in the air and watch them fall on your head.
Here's an action shot of him emptying the washcloth/dish towel drawer. He does this every day lately...it's like an obsession.
Oh and of course we have to find the disgusting looking oven mitts. He loves to wear these things!
Aw, a quick break for a jam sandwich which of course gets everywhere!
My mom asked me to get some shots of Aden standing up in his crib. He was none to pleased with me for not getting him out right away. Poor baby!
Well I'm not really sure what this is about but he's been doing it a lot lately. On his front, back, whatever just so long as his feet aren't on the ground.
I piled all of his stuffed animals on the chair with him. He was okay with it at first and then decided he was a bit crowded. This is Aden getting rid of the clutter.
And finally....Aden has a chair in his room and every so often he will climb up into it and read a few books. This one looks especially interesting.

Before and After

We got pictures taken by Maria Lang Photography way back in September. It took us awhile to view them, then to order them, then to get them, now to frame them. We still have more but at least we got these 4 up. I like the change. Here's the before picture......
....and here's the after. It's more impressive in person! haha.

Cupcake Love

Me thinks my mom has figured out that I have a slight obsession with cupcakes right now. She bought me this cupcake decorating book as well as a cupcake carrier. Yup you heard me right, a case just to transport my cupcakes around. Wicked.

The book is called "Hello, Cupcake" and it's full of the most amazing cupcake decorating ideas I've ever seen. Animals, foods, bowling pins, the list goes on a on. I highly recommend it. Here are a few pictures to enjoy.
Look at these bunnies! They look like they're trying to go into their holes and I love the grass cupcakes! Way too cute! I may just have to try this for easter.
Vegetable garden cupcakes.....I never would have even thought of it. I can't get over how realistic these look. It even looks like real dirt!
Yup these are cupcakes too. The corn is made from jelly beans, the butter from star bursts and the salt and pepper from decorating sugars. Crazy huh?
Here's an inside view of the cupcake carrier. Fits 36 cupcakes comfortably.
And with lid which snaps down. Just pick up by the handle and you're good to go.

A video to make you smile

Okay I can't figure out how to upload a video from the web so instead I'm just going to give you the links. I just saw T-mobiles Video on A La Mode's blog. It was put on by a group called Improv Everywhere. They've done all sorts of these "missions". Go to their website and you'll see a list of videos on the right you can watch. Have you seen the video from Grand Central Station where a bunch of people freeze for 5 minutes? This is the same group but frankly this "dance" is so much better! You can also see it on YouTube by clicking here. Take a few seconds out of your day to watch it. You won't regret it and it'll put a smile on your face. Promise! Let me know what you think!

What I Learnt Today

Hey...so Aden and I didn't have any plans today so we went to Rona. Here's what I learnt.

* I learnt that you can spend 30 bucks on paint and then just hope that these are the colors you want or you can kiss your money goodbye. I also learnt that those little tester paint cans that cost a fraction of the cost of a quart only come in a certain brand of paint...not the one that my colour swatches are from. Another classic Story of my Life example.
* I learnt that blinds tick me off. They come in standard sizes none of which fit the windows in our house.
* I learnt that Rona does have our mirrored closet door and possibly in stock providing it's there on the day you happen to go to pick one up. If not, you order and wait I guess.
* I learnt that Rona does not have any lights that I even remotely like. None!
* I learnt that it will cost anywhere from 60 - over 100 bucks to replace all of our kitchen handles. More like over 100 because those are the ones I like the best and would actually make a difference.
* I learnt that at Rona towel racks only come wide enough from one towel, stupid no?........blurgh!

But finally the most important thing I learnt at Rona today is that Aden is no longer fun to shop with! He just wants to walk around which isn't going to happen so he sits in the cart and whines and cries the whole time so you can't get anything done or even hear yourself think. It's awesome!

So when the hubby arrives home it's off to do some comparison shopping. Let's hope I have better luck somewhere else.

First "Official" Sale

I had my first "offical" sale yesterday in my Etsy shop. So exciting! I say official with quotations because I technically already had a sale but it was actually a friend of mine who I asked to buy something so that I could see how the process works. I then paid her back (will pay her back, haha). So you can imagine my excitment when I found a sale in my inbox yesterday and it was to a total stranger! Woo hoo. She bought the Blue Cake DIY Fill-In Invitations. One down, many to go......!

New Banner

It's taken me awhile to figure out how to make a banner since the program I have came with no instructions and for some reason I can't download any off the internet. Again, story of my life. At any rate I've finally come up with a banner that I really like. I'm not sure I'll keep it here on the blog (it doesn't seem quite right) but I think it's found a semi-permanent home in my shop. www.craftedbylindy.etsy.com Whoo hoo for figuring things out.
